Thomas T. Jenkins, 75, of Horsham, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Abington-Jefferson Health Oncology/Hospice Unit in Abington, PA. He bravely battled stage 4 brain cancer / Glioblastoma Multiforme since diagnosed in April 2017.
Born October 7, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Edward and Marcella Yurgatis Jenkins.
Tom, a long time resident of Wilkes-Barre, was a 1960 graduate of GAR Memorial High School. He enjoyed keeping in touch with classmates and he and his wife co-chaired many class reunions and gatherings. He worked his full career as an Asbestos Insulator of Local #38 Wilkes-Barre, until he retired in 2001. He served as a former Executive Board Member of Local #38.
While in Wilkes-Barre, he was a member of the former Holy Trinity Lithuanian Church where he served as Eucharist Minister of Holy Communion, was the past President of the Holy Name Society, and Chairman of the Parish Council.
Upon relocation to Horsham, Tom joined Nativity of Our Lord Church, Warminster. He was an active participant in church activities and served as the President of the Senior Group. He was a long standing Third and Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the Golden Age Seniors Center, Willow Grove. Tom enjoyed singing in church, loved being with his family and dog Meeka, and watching his grandchildren’s sporting/dance events. His favorite saying, “Life Is Good”, is a testament to the wonderful man and impact he had on everyone he knew.
He was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Rakowski and Lois Anne Kaminski, and brother Edward Jenkins Jr.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Jean Whitecavage Jenkins; children, Maureen Jenkins, Horsham; Thomas Jenkins, Jr. and his wife Donna Jenkins, Thornhurst; Sandra Jenkins Booz and her husband Bert Booz, Warminster; Daniel Jenkins and his wife Dannelle Jenkins, Warminster; grandchildren, Julia and Jack Booz; and Rhiley, Matthew and Kyra Jenkins; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be recieved Sunday, January 21, 2018 after 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM at the Decker Funeral Home, 216 York Road, Warminster. Friends will also be received after 9:30 AM Monday at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 225 W. Street Road, Warminster until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM.
On Tuesday, Friends may call 9 to 10 a.m. at the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will be Tuesday at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
